PERI GALLERY SUBMISSIONS FOR 2011

Photographic Centre Peri is now accepting exhibition proposals for 2011 from photographic and video artists nationally and internationally. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2010.

Our exhibitions program is usually planned up to 16 months ahead and new proposals are considered at Exhibitions Committee meeting in October.

Exhibition space

Photographic Centre Peri is located in the centre of Turku, in the same museum building with the city art museum Wäinö Aaltonen museum. Annually there are approximately 11 exhibitions shown in the gallery. The exhibition period is normally four weeks. There is no entrance fee to the exhibitions.

The size of the gallery is 102m2 (12,55m x 8,15m) divided in two separate spaces. The gallery has all the museum quality infrastructure and digital surveillance cameras. For lighting there are two options, either the natural sky light or electric spotlights. The height of the space is 3,5 meters. More information, floor plan and pictures www.peri.fi

Exhibition fees for year 2011:

-         normal package 1.600 euros + VAT 23%

-         Peri members 1.200 euros + VAT 23%

-         students 1.300 euros + VAT 23% (with limited services)

 Services included in the Exhibition fee:

-     rent and supervising of the gallery during the exhibition period of 4 weeks

-    designing, printing and mailing (in Finland) of 1.000 invitation cards (Peri format)

-    designing, printing and delivering of 30 exhibition posters (Peri format)

-    preparing and mailing printed press release for national media and network

-    preparing and sending email press release for national media and network

-    presenting the exhibition on Peri website, Peri Facebook site and on katse -webmagazine

-    organizing press conference and opening reception

-    assistance for installation of the exhibition (16 hours)

-    possibility to sell additional material (book, etc) in the museum shop

-    possibility to sell exhibited art work (gallery provision 20%)

The student fee (1.300 e + VAT 23%) includes:

-    designing, printing and mailing (in Finland) of 500 invitation cards

-    otherwise as normal fee

The artist will organize and cover all the costs of transportation and insurance of the art work during the exhibition. The artist will also cover all his/her personal travel expenses.

Submission

The submission should include a written exhibition proposal and a statement about the submitted work with technical specifications, CV and a selection of non-original visuals (e.g. digital prints or laser copies). Those wishing their work to be considered for exhibition should send proposals in a hard copy form. Peri does not consider submissions sent by email or on CD/DVD.
The applicants can express a preference of desired exhibition period. If they would like the submission returned postage and packing will need to be included with the exhibition proposal. Photographic Centre Peri does not take any responsibility for loss or damage to work.

The Exhibition Committee will make the selection by the end of October after which all applicants will be informed of the decision.

Photographic Centre Peri (founded in 1987) is a non-commercial regional photographic centre that presents national and international photo and video art in order to promote knowledge of high-quality photographic art. The gallery presents 11 contemporary photographic or video exhibitions annually, part of which are own productions. In 2010 beside Finnish artists the gallery has presented photographers from New Zeeland, France and South Africa.

In addition to the exhibitions Photographic Centre Peri organizes and coordinates photography workshops, seminars and various projects exploring photographic art.
